Teeth Whitening in Klaipėda
Take-home teeth whitening with custom-fitted trays at Miško Clinic in Klaipėda. A gentle way to brighten your teeth by 4 to 8 shades over 7 to 14 days, with a consultation and follow-up.
What is teeth whitening in?
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment in which a peroxide-based bleaching gel lightens the natural tooth. At Miško Clinic we use custom tray whitening that you wear at home, the gentlest option, because it lets you control the process and avoid the sudden sensitivity that often follows in-chair whitening.
On average teeth lighten by 4 to 8 shades over 7 to 14 days. One thing is worth understanding: the gel only works on natural enamel, so fillings, crowns and veneers will not change colour. If you have older cosmetic work at the front, it may need replacing afterwards so the shades match.
Professional hygiene is essential before whitening, because the gel only works effectively on a clean surface. All treatment prices are listed in our price list.
When is it needed?
- Teeth darkened by lifestyle: coffee, tea, red wine and smoking have left a layer of pigment.
- Natural yellowing with age: the enamel thins and the dentine darkens, which is normal but treatable.
- Preparing for a big occasion: a wedding, a photo shoot or a graduation.
- Before front-tooth restorations: we whiten first, then match the crown or veneer shade.
- Renewing your confidence: you simply want a brighter everyday smile.
- After braces: once the appliance comes off, you want to refresh how your teeth look.
How the procedure works
- 1
Consultation
We examine your teeth, assess the starting shade and tell you honestly what result is realistic in your case.
- 2
Hygiene appointment
We carry out professional hygiene if it has been more than 6 months, because the gel only works on a clean surface.
- 3
Taking impressions
We take precise impressions so the trays are made to the exact shape of your teeth and the gel spreads evenly.
- 4
Making the trays
Within 3 to 5 days the laboratory makes thin custom trays, and we show you how to apply the gel and how long to wear them.
- 5
Whitening at home
For 7 to 14 days you wear the trays for about an hour a day or overnight, depending on the gel concentration.
- 6
Follow-up visit
We assess the result, compare it with the starting shade and talk through how to keep the result for longer.
Whitening methods compared
| Method | What we do | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Custom take-home trays (our choice) | We make the trays, give you the gel, and you wear them at home for 7 to 14 days. | Gentle on the enamel, the trays stay with you, easy to top up. | Needs daily discipline, the result appears gradually. |
| In-chair whitening (we do not offer this) | High-concentration gel applied in the chair under a lamp. | Fast single-visit result. | More frequent and stronger sensitivity, higher risk to enamel, you still need trays to maintain the result. |
| Shop-bought strips and pastes (not recommended) | Off-the-shelf strips or whitening pastes used without a consultation. | Cheap and easy to buy. | Weak effect, can irritate the gums, no protection for fillings or crowns, and no clinical control. |

Aftercare following teeth whitening
The first 48 hours after each whitening session matter most. During this time the enamel is slightly more porous to pigment, so a white diet makes sense.
- Avoid: coffee, black tea, red wine, red berries, tomato sauce, curries, beetroot, soy sauce and smoking.
- You can have: milk, yoghurt, pale cheeses, chicken, rice, bananas, potatoes and pasta without coloured sauces.
- After two days you return to your usual diet, though cutting back on staining foods in general helps the result last.
- If you feel sensitivity to cold, use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth; the sensitivity usually settles within 1 to 3 days.
The trays stay with you, so in future you can top up the shade simply by buying a new tube of gel, with no need for new trays. On average the result lasts 1 to 2 years, depending on your diet and habits. Regular professional hygiene every 6 months also helps maintain the brightness you have achieved.
Why choose Miško Dental Clinic for teeth whitening
- Custom trays only, no rushed mass whitening: the trays are made from your impression, the gel spreads evenly and nothing leaks onto the gums.
- An honest conversation beforehand: if we can see that whitening will not work for you, an old filling or a crown at the front, we say so in advance, with no upselling.
- Transparent pricing: 100 € including trays, gel and instructions, and you can top up later with just a tube of gel.
- A professional whitening system for a reliable result: we control the concentration and timing so sensitivity stays minimal.
- Experience with front-tooth aesthetics: Dr Lauras Smilgevičius combines whitening with veneers and crowns so the final result looks natural.
Dr Lauras Smilgevičius on teeth whitening:
"Patients often come in after seeing an advert about Hollywood-white teeth, set on whitening the same day. I always start with a conversation: will whitening really give you what you expect? Sometimes the answer is no. If teeth are darkened by an old filling, changed by root canal treatment, or there is a crown at the front, whitening will not respond, because the active ingredient only works on natural tooth tissue.
So we always examine first, assess the current shade and tell you honestly what to expect. If I can see that whitening will not help, or will give a very modest effect, I say so. No selling.
At Miško Clinic we use custom trays that the patient wears at home. It is gentler than an in-chair procedure, the result builds up gradually over 7 to 14 days, and the trays stay with you, so you can refresh the shade later by buying a new tube of gel. That spares both your enamel and your wallet."
