Children's Orthodontic Treatment in Klaipėda: Myobrace Trainer and Plate
Early orthodontic care for children with a Myobrace trainer (200 €) or an orthodontic plate (350 €). We examine your child and talk with you first, and only then decide whether either appliance is suitable.
What are a Myobrace trainer and an orthodontic plate?
At Miško Clinic we provide early orthodontic prevention for children with two removable appliances listed in our price list: the Myobrace trainer and the orthodontic plate. Before suggesting anything, we examine your child's teeth and bite, and we talk with parents about diet, dummy use, tooth brushing and breathing through the nose. You can read about our other services for young patients on the children's dentistry page.
Myobrace trainer
A removable appliance made of flexible material that is worn in the mouth. The manufacturer says it is designed to train children to breathe through the nose, rest the tongue in the right position and swallow correctly. It is worn at home, and the manufacturer recommends 1 to 2 hours a day plus overnight while asleep. Your dentist will explain the exact routine for your child.
Orthodontic plate
A removable appliance made individually to fit your child's teeth. It usually has a plastic base and wire clasps that hold it on the teeth. Whether a plate is suitable, how many hours a day it should be worn and how often you need to come back are decided only after we have examined your child.
What to expect
Neither appliance works on its own: a removable appliance only helps when it is worn as instructed. Results also depend on your child's age and the bite problem, so we cannot guarantee them in advance. Some children still need braces or other treatment from an orthodontist later. If we can see at the examination that this is needed, we will tell you openly and advise you to see an orthodontist.
When might a child need early orthodontic care?
- A dummy or thumb-sucking habit that carries on: once the permanent teeth come through, prolonged sucking may affect how the mouth grows and how the teeth line up.
- Mouth breathing: if your child often keeps the mouth open and breathes through it, mention this at the examination. If the nose is constantly blocked or your child snores at night, talk to your family doctor as well.
- Swallowing habits: we talk with parents about correct swallowing during the mixed dentition years. If you notice your child pushing the tongue between the teeth when swallowing, mention it at the visit.
- A dentist has noticed changes in the bite: a check-up shows that the teeth do not meet as they should, and it is worth taking a closer look.
- The years when the teeth change: during the mixed dentition stage, roughly from 6 to 12, we discuss with parents whether orthodontic prevention is needed.
- You are worried about how the teeth are coming through: for example, permanent teeth erupting crooked. An examination helps decide whether to watch and wait, use an appliance or see an orthodontist.
How early orthodontic care works
- 1
Examination and a talk with parents
We check your child's teeth and bite and ask about habits: dummy use, thumb sucking, breathing and swallowing.
- 2
A fuller assessment if needed
When a broader assessment is needed, our price list includes a full patient examination (100 €): diagnostic models, bite, breathing and posture assessment, photographs and treatment planning.
- 3
A decision and the price in advance
We explain whether a Myobrace trainer or an orthodontic plate suits your child, or whether it is better to see an orthodontist. We agree the price before starting.
- 4
Fitting the appliance
Once we have chosen a trainer or a plate, we show you how to put it in, take it out and clean it, and agree on a wearing routine.
- 5
Follow-up visits
We check regularly how your child is getting on with the appliance and how the bite is changing. If we see that different treatment is needed, we discuss it with you.

Looking after a trainer or plate at home
Your dentist will give instructions for each appliance, but a few rules apply almost every time.
- Wear it for as long as the dentist says: a removable appliance only works while it is in the mouth.
- After taking the trainer or plate out, rinse it in cool water and clean it gently with a separate toothbrush.
- When it is not being worn, keep it in its case so it does not break or get lost.
- In the first few days a plate can feel strange, rub the lips or cheeks, change your child's speech slightly and cause more saliva than usual. This usually settles within a few days.
- If the appliance breaks, gets lost or keeps rubbing and hurting in the same place, contact the clinic rather than waiting for the next visit.
- Your child should keep brushing twice a day and coming for a check-up every 6 months.
